Tamlin’s specialty is our is post and beam or “hybrid” timber frame construction. We have our own millwork shop and panelized/prefabricated home division. Over the years Tamlin has been involved in hundreds of construction projects, from major renovations, through to custom resort and residential homes, and commercial buildings.
Tamlin’s uniqueness is providing a one-stop design and construction solution. Our “DESIGN BUILD” system focusses on designing your home to your budget. During construction our cost tracking system helps you stay up to date on actual and estimated costs. Every home that we design is meticulously planned to optimize construction methods using our in-house prefabrication systems to save on construction costs and time.
Depending on your goals for your current life style or the future, we work with you at every stage to meet your expectations for function, design, and quality. Tamlin offers a customized approach to integrating a suitable level of design expertise on every building project. You can work with our experienced in-house design staff , but we also offer professional architectural and interior design services to meet your specific needs. Our newly furnished “show office” is the perfect place to meet and conveniently located close to Vancouver. Tamlin’s “DESIGN BUILD” system in combination with our prefabricated building systems is ideal for your home project in Whistler.
What is Design-Build?
We are a design-build firm which means we can take your project from the design stage through to final move-in ready completion. This includes conceptual plans, preliminary budgets, permit plans, final budgets, hiring of professionals (such as engineers, surveyors, architects and interior designers), managing of all materials and labour for construction, and final delivery to the owner.
Whistler and other local resort locations have short building seasons which often means higher construction costs and difficulties finding qualified construction trades. Tamlin’s building system focuses on planning, predesigning, and prebuilding many of our house components, so the construction process goes smoother and faster which saves time and money. For example, factory made wall panels and precut timber components can be craned into place in days. Exterior siding is pre-stained at the factory to ensure top quality and ease of installation. For special “cold climates” Tamlin often provides 2×6, 2×8 or hybrid insulated wall systems with energy efficient triple pane windows.
